WHAT: 25th annual Providence Corporate Cup 5K Run/Walk.

LAGNIAPPE: Take part in the event as an individual or company. There will be free food, drink and musical entertainment, along with tent and T-shirt decorating contests. Proceeds go to the Big Buddy Program and Mid City Redevelopment Alliance.

Foam Fest

WHAT: 5K Foam Fest.

LAGNIAPPE: An event unlike any other, this run takes you through foam, mud and water. Costumes are welcome. Bring a towel and clean clothes. Other activities include foam pits, bounce houses and vendor booths. A portion of the proceeds goes to Special Olympics Louisiana.

Hat Run

WHAT: The Lauren Savoy Olinde Hat Run, 5K and 1 mile.

LAGNIAPPE: Held in honor of Lauren Savoy Olinde, who lost her battle with melanoma, the 5K and 1-mile fun run will feature free skin cancer screenings, a kids activity tent, skin cancer education, live music, food and fun.

Active for Autism

Here’s a chance to support the Resource Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, a program offered through Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge Area.

WHAT: Fourth annual Active for Autism 5K Run/Walk.

WHEN: 8 a.m. April 13.

WHERE: Independence Boulevard.

LAGNIAPPE: It costs about $2.3 million to rear a child with autism compared to $290,000 for a child without it. Proceeds from this event support the Resource Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, which provides individualized services, information and support for individuals and families.

Make a Difference

This bike ride and run is in memory of 14-year-old student athlete Burke Cobb who died in 2012 of sudden cardiac arrest.

WHAT: One Can Make a Difference Charity Ride and Run, 30-mile bike ride, 5K Family Bike Ride and 5K run.

WHEN: 8 a.m. April 13.

WHERE: Lamar Dixon Expo Center, Gonzales.

LAGNIAPPE: This East Ascension High School fundraiser is aimed at preventing student athletes from falling victim to sudden cardiac failure. All proceeds go to the Living4Burke Foundation, www.living4burke.org, named for the young student athlete who died. The event also will include food, inflatables, CPR demonstrations and strategies on how to respond to emergencies.

The Color Run
